“We die in the air, on the rail, and on the road!” – Morteza Hamoonian

Vehicle or Death Machine? Maybe we should reconsider its name. It doesn’t matter if it’s a car or a bus. A truck or a train or a plane. Whether you make a mistake or someone else does, or like the specific case in the past year. Human error in air defense brings you down! In any case, there is danger and possibility. Four decades have passed since the establishment of the Islamic Republic system. Four decades in which there have been deaths with cars, trains, and planes. On land and in the air. It may be said that well! Such events are possible all over the world. But when we look at the statistics, the issue becomes somewhat different. Turkey, our neighboring country, has a population of over 83 million. The population of Iran at the end of 2019 was close to 83 million. This means that the population statistics of these two countries are close to each other. But in Turkey, in the year 2019 AD

In 1358, Iran Air flight number 291, a commercial flight with a Boeing 727, collided with the Lashkarak Mountains on its route from Tehran to Mashhad and crashed, killing all 128 passengers on board. The revolution had just taken place and the interim government had resigned, leaving no one in charge. The crash occurred while the flight was still far from Mehrabad Airport.

The 1990s have seen at least 7 civil aviation accidents. These are civil aviation accidents, with the exception of three cases, all of which occurred during flight and crashing into mountains. Three of these accidents occurred during the war and after an attack by the cowardly American ship Vincennes. In February 1986, an F-27 Friendship aircraft was surrounded by two Iraqi MiG fighters and all 51 passengers were killed. In October 1986, a Boeing 737 was attacked by an Iraqi fighter jet at Shiraz Airport and 23 passengers were killed. The

It’s not just the sky that is dangerous. The ground and even the train tracks are also full of danger. The railway transportation network is one of the safest in the world. In Iran, it was the first step towards modern transportation. During the eight-year war, this railway network was one of the most important means of transportation, delivering weapons and soldiers to the front lines, especially in the south of the country.

Compared to air and even private and public ground transportation networks, the railway transportation network in Iran is more cost-effective. The disasters that occur in this network not only target the trust of people in the railway system of the country, but also put their lives and goods at risk. However, this network also has some tragic events in its history.

In Azar 1395, the Haftkhan station on the Semnan-Damghan route. The Semnan train collided with the Mashhad train while it was stopped on the same track. Four wagons dera

And after rail, in competition with transportation of goods, it is also present on the streets and roads. In 2015, out of 190 countries, we ranked 189th in road accidents. (11) 25 times more than Japan and twice as much as Turkey in the same year. This is while in the previous year, Turkey had 2346 fatalities and in Iran, in a similar period, we lost 17,183 of our compatriots due to similar reasons. In 1396, the CEO of the National Compensation Headquarters stated that “the number of fatalities in road accidents in the past 10 years is much higher than the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution, assassination victims, and martyrs of the imposed war.” (12) This means losing approximately 211,000 of our compatriots in about eight years.

However, it can be said that the annual mortality rate in road accidents has been constant since around 1393. This is while,

In the air and on the ground, danger of death awaits on rail and road. The recorded numbers of fatalities in Iran become even more terrifying when compared to other countries that are similar to us in terms of global status, or even countries with much larger populations. It becomes clear why we need to take a closer look at the transportation and passenger transport sector in Iran. A look that prioritizes human lives. A look that currently does not exist, but we hope one day will prevail in this sector in Iran. We hope for a time when we no longer witness the deaths of our compatriots every day in our country.
