A Look at the Student Movement of the 90s/Reprinting a Note by the Late Ali Ajami

The body of Ali Ajami was found on May 7th of this year in a lake in the city of Houston, America. Despite his short life, he has left behind an impressive record in defense of humanity.

Mr. Ajami, born in a rural environment in Sabzevar, overcame difficulties and deprivation to enter the University of Tehran as one of the top-ranked students and studied law. Having experienced pain, suffering, and discrimination, he pursued his humanitarian concerns by joining the student movement for “freedom and equality”. In 2009, Ali was arrested for his peaceful activities and sentenced to two years in prison. After his release, he was expelled from the university with only one semester left until graduation. During this time, Ali was forced to seek asylum and became more actively involved with human rights organizations.
