Human error, the most important factor in rail accidents in Iran / Farzad Saifi Karan

According to the statements and statistics presented by Seyyed Kamal Hadianfar, the head of Naja Traffic and Driving Police, in an interview with Asre Khodro magazine in July 2019, more than 92% of car accidents in Iran are caused by human factors.

Due to the importance of rail transportation safety in Iran, identifying the factors influencing accidents and incidents is also considered one of the goals of the railway industry. These goals, in addition to addressing modern challenges in the rail transportation system, also involve advancements in science and technology. A specialized look at incidents in various industries has shown that the basis for these incidents is not very diverse and human errors are the main factor in most of these incidents. Therefore, understanding the patterns and root causes of errors is an important approach in understanding and improving safety management in industries. In the transportation industry, human factors are also one of the leading causes of accidents. However, despite the emphasis and number of accidents in this industry, statistics have not shown a significant decrease.

Human factors refer to both small and large human errors that result in the death or injury (physical or mental) of one or more individuals, or damage to the transportation system and industry. Errors are a part of human nature, as long as human performance takes place
