Sufism, mysticism, asceticism, and some other names refer to a school of Islam that, based on the teachings of each chain of this school – which I will refer to as Sufism – believes in the different sects of Islam that the commandments of religion are at least necessary for a Muslim’s way of life in this world and salvation in the afterlife. If a person wants to attain spiritual truths in this world, they must not only follow the minimum requirements of religious life, but also observe other matters in accordance with religious law and perform special acts of worship, such as divine remembrance, recommended acts, and other religious practices, in order to find the heart of religious rulings, which is the outward aspect of religion, and to see and understand what the true followers of religious law may see and understand in the other world and the realm of the spirit. The ultimate goal of this path is called the truth, which means understanding the secrets of the world of
In the world of Islam, whether in the Shia Twelver sect or in the four Sunni schools of thought, there are dozens of different Sufi orders with their own customs and traditions. This is in addition to the Shia sects and branches of Ismailism that have similarities and closeness to Sufism. However, the most important orders in the world of Islam, both Shia and Sunni, are the fourteen Junaidi or Ma’rufi orders, which are named after the Imams of the time. The reason for the naming of these orders is that the leaders and guides of each branch of these orders, whether Shia or Sunni, trace their permission back to the eighth Imam of the Shiites, Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha, the famous Karkhi Sheikh, or the first pole after the occultation of the twelfth Imam of the Shiites, Junaid Baghdadi. These orders receive their permission from the first Imam of the Shiites
In the lineage of “Alaviye Razaviye Marufiye Junaidiye Ne’matullahiye Sultan Ali Shahi, known as Ghanabadi,” the chain of permission includes the following masters and spiritual leaders:
Sheikh al-Mashaikh Marouf Karkhi, Sheikh al-Mashaikh Sari Saqti, from now on, who is considered in the history of Islam to be contemporary with the beginning of the Imam’s occultation in Shia, the chain of successors to the Imam in the matter of Sufism begins. Except for Sheikh al-Mashaikhin, the time of the return of the chain of blessings from India to Iran: 1. Junaid Baghdadi, 2. Abu Ali Rudbari, 3. Abu Ali Katib, 4. Abu Imran Maghrebi, 5. Abu al-Qasim Rudbari, 6. Abu Bakr Tusi, 7. Ahmad Tusi Ghazali, 8. Abu al-Fadl Baghdadi, 9. Abu al-Barakat, 10. Abu Masoud Andalusi, 11. Abu Madin, 12. Abu
The Sufis of the Ghanabadi family, especially the elders of the chain, have been and are under intense pressure from the government and security and police forces of Iran after the 1957 revolution; while the policy of the chain has always been to stay away from politics and not interfere in political affairs.
The Ghanabadi Blessing Chain is a Shia religious chain and the introduction to entering the chain – which is referred to as “honoring” or “pledging allegiance” in literature – is the maturity of intellect, research and contemplation in principles, imitation, and completion of religious obligations. The religious gatherings of the chain, which were held on Monday, Friday, Friday dawn, and Saturday morning, were completely closed after the start of the events of the seventh Golestan in Iran under security pressure, especially by the Revolutionary Guards’ intelligence, along with all remaining Ghanabadi Husseiniyahs in Iran after the wave of destruction of Ghanabadi Husseiniyahs during the presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
After the events of winter 1396 and the attack by special forces of the law enforcement, members of the Revolutionary Guards and Basij special units arrested over 300 Sufis in the fortified house of Sheikh Nematollahi Gonabadi on Pasdaran 7th Street (across from the home of the Qutb of the Sufi order). One person was killed and one was sentenced to death while in custody. As a result of these events, Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh, the Qutb of the Sufi order, was placed under house arrest and the charity organization Reza and the publishing house Haqqiyyat, which published books on the Sufi order, were sealed by the Tehran prosecutor’s office.
