Challenges of housing rights in Iran / Mohammad Mohabi

Housing and having shelter is one of the basic needs of humanity, and as a result, it is a fundamental human right. In the constitutions of countries, there is an emphasis on the minimum right to housing and shelter for citizens. In the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Article 31, it is explicitly stated: “Having suitable housing is the right of every Iranian individual and family. The government is obligated to provide the necessary conditions for the implementation of this principle, with priority given to those in need, especially rural residents and workers.”

Due to the high cost of housing construction, this commodity has become a huge market and an opportunity for profitable trade. From an economic and commercial perspective, this is completely understandable. Building housing creates movement in nearly 500 jobs, from simple labor to construction of walls, windows, and cabinets. The economic and commercial aspect of housing is inevitable. But what about the right to housing? What about the fate of the homeless? Are they condemned
