
Book Introduction: Pure Reason and Human Rights
The book “Pure Reason and Human Rights” written by Amin Ghazaei has been published by the Human Rights Activists Association in Iran. This book examines and presents a theory on the fundamental concepts of human rights.
“On what grounds should a government grant its citizens freedom of expression, freedom of association and assembly?” This is the question that Amin Ghazaei asks at the beginning of the book. He then lists and explains common answers to this important question, stating that none of them can provide a rational justification for governments to adhere to human rights.
The author argues against emotional justifications for human rights and instead presents rational and theoretical arguments. He also believes that while the Universal Declaration of Human Rights may seem more convincing, it does not provide rational concepts to support the claim for human rights.
