After the victory of the revolution, which was a major topic of discussion, different groups had various models ranging from communism and socialism to social democracy and liberalism. However, Ayatollah Khomeini and his followers did not have a specific plan or program. Before the revolution, the main issue was for the clergy to go to the seminaries and leave the management of the country to Muslim technocrats. In fact, the clergy and Ayatollah Khomeini did not have a fundamental critique of the administrative system and private ownership. They were only concerned about the elimination of the clergy from the social sphere. However, events unfolded in a way that the clergy and Ayatollah Khomeini realized that if they did not have direct power, they would be eliminated. In fact, they should have known that it was the course of history that would eliminate them, not political ideologies. But in any case, in order to gain political power, they had to appeal to the marginalized urban and rural
The treatment of music has also gone through such a process; from the prohibition of carrying “instruments” at the beginning of the revolution, now only the prohibition of displaying their images remains and the effort to prevent concerts, similar to the banning of movie theaters before death. The reason why the radio and television do not retreat in this area and do not coordinate with cinema and online television is also due to the fact that the majority of television viewers are people who have religious or traditional beliefs and do not have much interest in music or what is called immodesty, and the rest of the people who occasionally watch television do not expect anything from the radio and television and it is accepted for them that this institution is not for them; they do not pay attention to its news or its artistic programs.
Whatever all the components of the Islamic Republic – from fundamentalists to reformists – have in common is the preservation of the system, and they know that the Islamic Republic will crumble without the freedom of expression and art. Therefore, they do not want to take any action that would make the people bold and no longer have to choose between bad and worse in a narrow channel, and instead, they want to choose what is good. They have the experience of before the revolution, when as soon as the space opened up, everything collapsed like dominoes.
Currently, the sound and vision (media) knows that it can never gain a large audience by showing an instrument or not showing it. It is concerned that it may even lose its current audience, because the essence of the life and death of the Islamic Republic, despite declaring long-term and ambitious plans and slogans up to one thousand and four hundred, is day by day and always selling the future to buy the present.
