Publication of the annual report on the human rights situation in Iran
The group of human rights activists in Iran, with the efforts of the Statistics, Publication, and Works Institution, has published its annual report on the state of human rights in Iran for the one-year period (2015-2014). This report is the result of the daily efforts of this organization in the recent years, as part of a daily data collection project that started in 2009. It provides analysis and statistics in the report.
The annual report on human rights violations in Iran (2015-2014) is the result of collecting, analyzing, and documenting 1385 reports on the human rights situation published by news sources in the past year. The share of HRANA news agency, as the news organization of human rights activists in Iran, in extracting and reporting on these reports was 52%, while official or government-affiliated sources accounted for 35%, and other human rights news sources accounted for 13%.
In the 28-page report (PDF version) published by this human rights organization, various sections including women’s rights, workers’ rights, children’s rights, prisoners’ rights, etc. have been briefly reviewed and presented with relevant charts for better understanding by readers. According to this report, despite a 2% increase in other parts of the country compared to Tehran province in the previous year, the focus of reporting on the human rights situation in Iran still reflects the lack of proper monitoring in other parts of the country by civil society, to the extent that in the past year, at least one province has not reported on the human rights situation at all.
Although the mentioned report is the result of the extensive efforts of brave human rights defenders in Iran who incur costs in pursuit of their humanistic beliefs, it is evident that due to reasons such as the government of Iran not allowing human rights organizations to operate and restricting the free flow of information, this report, despite its high accuracy, cannot be considered completely error-free and should not be the sole reflection of the human rights situation in Iran. However, this report must be boldly recognized as one of the most accurate, comprehensive, and well-documented reports on human rights violations in Iran, with the hope that it will serve as a catalyst for better action by organizations and human rights defenders through a better understanding of the human rights situation in Iran and the challenges and opportunities ahead.
To view the level of reporting by human rights organizations and media outlets from different provinces of the country, which.
It has a direct connection with the capacity of civil society, pay attention to the above map.
