Iran is the largest prison in the world for internet activists/ Behnaz Mortezaei.

The Cyber Police of Iran, also known as FATA, is a specialized unit of the law enforcement force of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Its duty is to control the cyber space, including combating moral offenses and confronting opponents of the Iranian government, particularly after the unrest following the 2009 presidential election. This unit was established in February 2011 by the order of Ismail Ahmadi-Moghaddam, the commander of the Iranian law enforcement force. According to the Journalists Club, “Despite being relatively new, the Iranian Cyber Police is ranked first among successful police forces in the world.”

The head of the Cyber Police in Tehran, in an interview with the Journalists Club in 2013, stated that the main approach of the Cyber Police is software engineering and its employees, along with police detectives, have undergone training courses on cyber crime detection at the Police Science University.
