Why is it necessary to use renewable energies? / Kioumarth Amiri
Humans throughout their lives need to use energies for survival, well-being, development, and progress in life, and in this regard, they use and provide various types of energy.
Long ago, humans used wood from forests to keep themselves warm and to provide shelter. This has caused irreparable damage to millions of hectares of forests and has put the environment at great risk. In search of energy, humans have turned to discovering new sources of energy and have been forced to make changes and advancements in their use, without considering the limitations and harmful consequences of these resources. Today, with the observation of the destructive and dangerous effects of exploiting certain energy sources on the environment and human life, there has been a serious focus on the use of renewable (clean) energy sources. The most important of these is solar energy, and Iran, with its vast resources and suitable conditions, including sunlight and empty plains for installing solar panels, has the potential to utilize this energy. Meanwhile, nuclear energy, in addition to its dangerous consequences, has reached the end of its historical lifespan and economic justification and has been the cause of inequality, political and environmental problems in the world.
A look at energy resources in the world and the dos and don’ts of using them.
Undoubtedly, if humans had recognized the importance and non-harmfulness of solar energy from the beginning of its use and utilization, perhaps they would have never turned to other sources and foundations of energy in the world, most of which are in a state of transformation and conversion and cause many damages and dangers to the environment and human life, and are more harmful. They would have utilized solar energy, which is an endless and abundant energy in the world, especially in Iran, and that would have prevented this vast and extensive amount of damage and losses caused by the use of different types of energy in the world.
It is regrettable that humans have been so slow to realize this important matter, and as a result, during the use and exploitation of energy from natural resources, they have caused irreparable damage to other important data and assets of nature and the environment, and in general, to the foundation of human life and rights.
From the beginning of their life, humans have used various life-giving energies such as water, wind, and sunlight to survive and develop their lives, based on their needs and nature. Since the day they became aware of themselves, they have continuously strived to use these energies in the most efficient and effective way, especially for the development of their own lives. With significant changes and transformations, they have harnessed these energies and utilized them for their own benefit.
Undoubtedly, one of the mistakes of humans in relation to the use of the energies present in the heart of nature was the wrong belief that firstly, energy resources in the world are infinite and inexhaustible, and secondly, they did not pay attention to the harm and damages caused by the way these energies were used. And because of this mistaken belief, in an irresponsible manner, they caused serious risks to the existence of these energies and also endangered human life and rights. Although they provided many services for the development and well-being of human life, on the other hand, they also caused irreparable damages in many areas such as creating inequalities, etc.
In this century, humans have realized the mistakes of their past through their experiences and also considering the damages inflicted on human life through the use of energy. They have come to the idea of correcting their past mistakes and using these energies without causing harm, as well as preserving and developing a sustainable environment for themselves and future generations. Therefore, we can see the organization of seminars, the approval of laws, and the necessity for humans to use energy in our world. This time, there is a greater focus and inclination towards using renewable (clean) energy, especially solar energy.
From the beginning of their existence, humans have used energy in a simple and natural way to survive and perhaps even grow and develop their lives. However, the problem arose when humans began to manipulate and change the nature of these energies for better and more abundant use, without considering the harmful consequences. This behavior continued to the point where today, statistics show that fourteen million people die annually in the world due to environmental hazards; meaning that no matter how much energy humans use, they are also endangering and causing harm to the environment, as well as the rights of other humans.
Undoubtedly, the purest, most extensive, and perhaps the most infinite energy in the world is solar energy, which in addition to these characteristics, poses no threats to nature and the environment in general.
Iran is one of the countries that has the most hours of sunlight, making it the most suitable for utilizing solar energy. Unfortunately, this fact has not been given enough attention and the leaders have taken the wrong path by investing in nuclear power plants, which come with high costs and numerous risks. These actions have caused irreparable damage to the environment and the rights of humans, whether it be through building dams, excessive use of underground water resources, and other harmful practices. These damages are sometimes irreversible and have put the lives of people in different regions of the country at risk.
Today, the world is facing numerous and significant problems and challenges such as the damages and losses caused by greenhouse gases, deforestation and destruction of forests, land subsidence which is known as the disaster of the century, droughts, water and environmental issues, etc. The majority of these problems are a result of human negligence and ignorance towards their surrounding environment, or in other words, the result of human interference and misuse of energy and natural resources in order to achieve prosperity, better living and all-around development, without considering the consequences and impacts of their actions and behaviors towards their surrounding environment, especially the environment and the rights of humans. The destruction and devastation of the environment and the unscientific use of energy resources, which are mostly done by humans, have caused the world to face numerous dangers and problems, especially in regions with higher energy consumption, and this has greatly worried and concerned experts and specialists, who are now looking for solutions. Among these concerns, Iran has been placed in a position where experts
This problem not only threatens Iran, but also many other countries in the world with differences in this regard. If urgent and fundamental scientific planning is not implemented to mitigate and compensate for these damages, it will not be long before the world witnesses great disasters in this region.
All of these problems are caused by the incorrect and unprincipled use of energy resources by humans, which has put parts of the world in serious and comprehensive danger. This issue has now prompted experts and concerned individuals around the world to think about using renewable (clean) energy sources; a necessary matter that should be taken into consideration by citizens worldwide.
