Last year in the month of Shahrivar (1398), Mohammad Eslami, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development in Iran, made a claim that seemed very strange at the time. He said that with the implementation of the National Housing Project in major cities, the hopes of becoming a homeowner in Iran would be achieved in under 10 years, and in other cities in less than three years. It is actually a completely economic indicator that aims to show the amount of time a person needs to save money to buy a house. In fact, what is measured in this indicator is the correlation between housing prices, annual inflation, and minimum wage in the country.
The calculation method for this indicator is to divide the average housing price in each city by the average income and the resulting number shows the amount of time needed to achieve the financial ability to buy a house. However, since housing costs are only one of the expenses for individuals in life, it is not possible to use the overall average income to calculate this indicator. On the other hand, since the allocation of money for living expenses varies for each individual or family based on social values, interests, and culture, the amount of money allocated for housing also varies and there is no fixed and specific amount for it
