
Why is “women against women” a sign of misunderstanding of feminism? / Rezvaneh Mohammadi

In recent years, the phrase “women against women” has been used on social networks to describe some patriarchal or anti-women events. This concept is also used to describe the oppression of “women against women”. It seems that in literature, discrimination against a group is more shameful when the perpetrator is from the same group. Are all women part of the same social group? In fact, women from different economic classes, cultural and religious backgrounds, and different sexual orientations do not fit into one group. As it is clear, women from different groups can experience multiple forms of oppression in addition to gender discrimination. Therefore, not only does each woman experience different layers of discrimination, but she can also be the perpetrator of these discriminations. But what causes some to not recognize gender discrimination as another form of discrimination? Or why do some hold women more responsible for being aware of it?
