Independence of the Bar Association, a barrier against all forms of corruption/Mohammad Moghimi

Civil society helps to create people-centered governance and uphold democratic principles and good governance. The Iranian Bar Association is the first civil society organization in the Middle East that has been at the forefront of this effort, with lawyers being among the most important actors in civil society and human rights. However, experience has shown that after revolutions, lawyers and the legal profession have always been subjected to revolutionary neglect. For example, after the French Revolution, the Bar Association of that country was dissolved for a period of time. Napoleon, who saw the eloquence, courage, and bravery of lawyers as a threat to his dictatorial and monopolistic power, reacted to a bill to re-establish the Bar Association, which had been submitted to him by the Minister of Justice, Cambacérès, by saying, “This bill is not rational… As long as I have the power, I will never sign such a law.
