Identification of street vendors

Today’s street vendors are yesterday’s workers who have become unemployed. In other words, street vending is among the professions that people turn to out of unemployment, necessity, or the need to meet daily needs, despite not having enough capital to start a sustainable business. However, this job also has consequences, one of which is the interference and obstruction of municipal authorities who use the excuse of expanding sidewalks to confiscate their belongings and only return them after paying a bribe to the authorities or a fine to the municipality. The actions of the municipal authorities to collect street vendors, based on complaints from shop owners, are carried out in a harsh and inappropriate manner on the streets, which not only deprives some people of their livelihood but also exacerbates the problem of unemployment. Street vendors’ protest, alongside other demand movements, can only become cohesive and widespread if they can overcome the restrictions and obstacles posed by the government’s “food package” and “categorization” promises. The vendors say: If, like the past two months, we are forced to close our businesses and stay at home at your command, do you also distribute the excess and surplus of the budget allocated to dozens of religious institutions such as the Islamic Propaganda Organization, the Endowment Organization, the Center for Services to Seminaries, the Non-Employed Seminary Students, the Al-Mostafa Society [the same institution that many accuse of bringing the coronavirus from China to Qom and causing a nationwide lockdown], the Supreme Council of Seminaries, the World Assembly of Proximity of Religions, the Academy of Persian Language and Literature, and… equally among us to prevent us from starving?!
