
The rejection of the rights of sexual minorities in the shadow of tyranny and patriarchy/Baran Nazarpour

Writing about the violation of fundamental family rights of LGTB+ individuals in an oppressive and patriarchal society like Iran is like writing with a fragile candle in the midst of a storm of darkness and injustice. More than two hundred years have passed since the French Revolution and more than a hundred years since the Constitutional Revolution in Iran. But in reality, the society, culture, economy, and politics are so entangled with the web of oppression that separating them and having a different perspective is considered taboo, sin, and crime.
In Iran, the LGTB+ community is reduced to a simple binary of male and female, according to the ruling authorities. They even try to push those who have same-sex attraction or do not identify as strictly male or female towards gender reassignment surgeries, in order to fit them into the stereotypical categories of male and female. This way, the majority of society can easily fit these individuals into the predetermined and accepted roles.
