Conclusion

As mentioned, suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the world, and it is not limited to a specific country or ethnicity. There are multiple factors involved in the occurrence of suicide, and theorists have presented various opinions about its causes. Factors such as literacy rate, unemployment rate, divorce, poverty, generation gap, individualism, urbanization, etc. have been raised by intellectuals. It has been said that changes in values and norms, generation gap, sense of social order, and social inequality are among the factors of youth suicide in Kurdistan. However, it must be noted that poverty and unemployment are the most influential factors in the occurrence of suicide in Kurdistan. It can be argued that “education and work on resilience” of individuals can reduce the motivation and time for suicide, but as mentioned, the foundations of this issue (at least in Iran and Kurdistan) are structural and prevention should be a priority. When there is no hope for the future, young people resort to suicide.
