“Life of the poor – a poem by Sonia Tayebi”
من میخواهم به دانشگاه بروم
I want to go to university.
The Afghan girl named “Latifeh” who did not undergo surgery at Shiraz Hospital and died.
من دوستت دارم
I love you.
How to embrace you
With these hands full of thorns
Full of shame
Iranian doctors
Oh, what a joke
This land is torn apart
Oh, what a joke
These doctors are troubled by greed
They were the ropes of executioners…
How do they sleep
When your childhood is in their hands
This is power
Drunk and confused
Chaotic
Forgotten
These fragile humans
Have been driven out of the heart of the earth
Who with their hands of knowledge,
Oh, what a joke, oh, what a joke
Not a mother
This land
How can it
Take your childhood away…
These doctors
These hospital poisons
In this deep cave
Greedy, they have made you weightless.
The tragedy of your death is a shame
On the hands of Avicenna who has gone into seclusion
Oh, what a joke, oh, what a joke!
Today’s hungry world
Is moving forward
