Rouzbeh Gilasian, a graduate of philosophy of science at Sharif University, is the author of the book “From Pursuit to Prison” which discusses the rights of political-security suspects and convicts based on the latest amendments to the law. Gilasian has also written other books such as “Philosophy in the Street”, “Human Moon of Bahman”, “Romantic Fortunes”, “Revolution Notes”, “The Little Philosopher” and “Now University”, most of which have not been granted permission for publication by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and have been published on internet websites.

The book, entitled “Criminal Law”, consists of an introduction and 8 chapters named “Crimes and Punishments”, “Investigation and Arrest”, “Rights of the Accused”, “Definitions and Principles of Defense of the Accused”, “Trial in Court”, “Appeal of Judgments”, “Enforcement of Criminal Sentences”, and “Prison and Laws Related to Imprisonment”. In the introduction, it is emphasized that: “This book is not a typical writing in the common sense; rather, it is a compilation, organization, and clarification of laws and regulations.”

From pursuit to prison, crimes are classified into four separate categories under the titles of “security crimes”, “public crimes with political content”, “political crimes”, and “crimes with maximum punishment” and have been elaborated on in detail.

To better familiarize oneself with this book, it is necessary to read certain sections of its introduction: “As can be seen, the structure of the book is organized in a way that any civil activist may encounter it in stages during their activities: from pursuit, summons, arrest, understanding of charges, court proceedings, issuing verdicts, appealing decisions, reconsideration, implementation of criminal sentences, and ultimately imprisonment. Hopefully, no one will enter this cycle and no one will be unjustly forced into it; however, in any case, anyone who intends to engage in politics must be aware of these matters.
