Twelve necessary qualities for working in Herana/ Behrouz Javid Tehrani.

From years of imprisonment until now, I have always tried to make the most of the minimal opportunities to advance my human goals, regardless of the place and time. When the security system tried to take away our land of activity by imprisoning people like me and put us in a state of passivity through limiting our resources and relationships, I used the only means of communication and tried to become the least violator of human rights in prisons and my surroundings. Perhaps this was the most effective thing I did in prison.

The group of human rights activists in Iran, which later added the Hrana news agency, has been the main source of collaboration for me in the field of human rights since day one. Especially since I knew Kian Rafiee and we had worked together even outside of prison, and also maintained continuous communication with the late Jamal Hosseini and other colleagues throughout these years.

However, my experience of working closely in Hirana during the post-prison period, which lasted about three years, was a more extensive and complex experience compared to when my main title was initially “prisoner” and then “human rights reporter”.

Of course, my intention is to share my observations about the progress of the movement. It is not just about the group of activists, especially the Hrana news agency. I want to take this opportunity to let interested friends know how this organization has been able to move forward for ten years and what conditions are necessary for cooperation as a responsible member of this organization. I will list twelve essential qualities that I have experienced.

In order to work as a responsible person in Here, you must have or create these qualities in yourself:

  • To some extent, forget about personal life.

  • You can manage with eating less or not eating on time.

  • You can have at least 16 hours of productive work daily.

  • Have the capacity to listen to endless words and conversations from all sides.

  • You can endure lower back pain caused by sitting for a long time.

  • You can talk on the phone for a minimum of a few hours continuously during the day.

  • Have the capacity to convey the news of an individual’s execution to their mother.

  • Publish news of executions, turmoil, and chaos every day, but be able to start your work tomorrow morning with hope again.

  • Have the ability to not sleep or wake up at any time of the day or night.

  • Always live in stress.

  • Always stay broke.

  • Repeat all of the above every day for years to come!

If you can be such a person, I congratulate you and recommend that you contact Harana for collaboration; such a group, with the work difficulties it has, needs individuals like you.
