Book Introduction: All Human Rights, for Everyone

Ketab

The book “All Human Rights for All” is the latest work of Dr. Mehdi Zakerian. Dr. Zakerian is a professor of human rights and international relations at the Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch, and also the editor-in-chief of the Persian-English journal of international studies, ISJ. In addition, he has managed several projects at the United Nations Information Center, including translating resolutions of the Security Council and General Assembly on the issue of Israel and Palestine, translating UN texts, and designing and conducting specialized courses at the United Nations in collaboration with the UN Information Center and the “Refugee Rights” working group, along with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

This book presents the latest findings of the author in the field of human rights, along with the addition of new theories on this subject and the reforms of the United Nations. The book discusses a number of new theoretical and practical texts on human rights, such as realism, dualism and duofacto, transitional justice, Human Rights Council, international criminal law, and new issues of the 21st century. Below are some short excerpts from the text of this book:

“The purpose of human rights is not limited to this land (Iran) where there are only two issues in every corner of the world: first, to alleviate the suffering of victims of human rights violations and prevent their recurrence. The establishment of human rights values and beliefs has its roots in the 2500-year history of this land. Furthermore, human rights confront those who, by misusing the sacred name of religion and the valuable principles of Islam after the Prophet (PBUH) and the era of the caliphate and the martyrdom of Imam Ali (AS), oppress the people who seek religion and are devoted to its pure ideals. Second, to help elevate the status of a country with a rich history and to showcase it as the founder and symbol of human rights in a region that is the center of human rights violations and tension.” [Taken from the preface]

“The beginning of the new century and millennium coincided with the terrorist events of September 11, 2001. Despite the widespread belief that the dominant paradigm of international law shifted from human rights to international security and the war on terrorism and terrorist countries as a result of these events, it was actually human rights that remained at the center of discussions in the international community. In fact, the terrorist events of September 11 were rooted in violations of human rights and had consequences that stemmed from these violations.” [p. 19]

“In the first decade of this millennium, it must be said that what is being done by some countries is undeniably ugly, stemming from the selfishness and psychological manipulations of the leaders of those countries. They sacrifice their national interests, sovereignty, and national security for their own satanic and unethical desires. They only think about their own survival and believe their happiness is the happiness of their entire country. These leaders even advise other countries to learn from them and manage their own countries in the same way… Gaddafi tore up the United Nations Charter in the General Assembly and threw it at the President of the General Assembly. He even advised Obama to make his presidency a lifelong one in order to save America. But it was the logic of morality and human rights that prevailed, and Gaddafi was overthrown. In fact, the decisions and views of such leaders have no academic value in law and international relations, and may only be analyzed in classical studies of law and international relations.” [p.

Reading this book, which has recently been published by Mizan Publishing and released, is recommended for enthusiasts and activists in the field of human rights and international relations.
